First Luchterduinen turbine is up

9 April, 2015

Van Oord has installed the first turbine at the 129MW Eneco Luchterduinen offshore wind farm in the Netherlands.

Installation vessel Aeolus tackled the work and the facility’s other 42 3MW MHI Vestas V112 machines will be erected in the coming weeks.

The towers, nacelles and blades of the turbines are being transported to the port of Esbjerg in Denmark for delivery to the project site 23km off the coast between Noordwijk and Zandvoort.

The journey to the construction zone takes the Aeolus 30 hours and turbines are expected to be installed at the rate of one per day. The wind farm is expected to be operational in August.

Eneco Luchterduinen is a joint venture between Eneco and Mitsubishi Corporation.
